and it has something to do with gaming.
Does VGM (videogame music) hold a place in the music hierarchy?
My argument to this topic is twofold: first off, if VGM wasn't actual music, how do you account for the dozens and dozens of VGM Discs released in Japan every month? Secondly, without VGM, we wouldn't have some of the most recognizable tunes in gaming. (the classic Super Mario Bros. theme, for instance.)
What's your stance on it?

It's definitely music. Whether or not it's good music is an entirely different issue; and one based solely on opinion.

Its music. As long as there is a tune and rhythm to it and makes sounds that you like (or hate.) its still music.
