Okay, so picture this: a small RPG-like inn in the suburb of Shady Trees. Not adorned with a lot, but still a quite successful inn. This is due in part to the fact that one of the founders is Akari Ichijo, a somewhat successful businesswoman from the Tokugawa era. Of course, those same people later encounter the other founder, and then they beat feet.
So who is the other founder, then? Here's a hint: Treize-of-Gundam-Wing-hair.
"I don't know what anime you've been watching, Akari, but I don't have this Treize's hair."
Yup. The other founder is none other than Iori Yagami, Shady Trees' resident badass, eternal rival of the Japan Team leader Kyo Kusanagi, and overall not-nice guy. He's not a criminal, he's not evil, he's just... really not an easy guy to get along with, especially if your name is Kyo Kusanagi. Well, that was him up until a few months ago, when he met the aforementioned businesswoman Akari, and right then decided to change for the better, one step at a time.

Akari walked into the Inn, yawning while swinging her divining pole around. She seemed a bit bored, seeing as how there weren't any customers (Even thought it was just mid-morning). She actually wanted a little action, well, as long as Juzoh wasn't around, she guessed the day was somewhat ok.
"Morning Iori-san," she greeted him, gently leaning on the front desk. "Don't mind me... I haven't had my morning tea yet, so I'm still a little bit out of it...."8

"S'no Problem.", Iori gruffly responded. As much as he hated to admit it, Akari was the one thing in his life that actually helped him gradually become a slightly better human being.
And then.... IT happened. Just then, the door opened. The person who opened the door had a short-sleeved black jacket with the Kusanagi emblem on the back, a white shirt, black pants, a white headband, black gloves (again with the Kusanagi emblem on them), black shoes, and short black hair.
To put it simply: This was Kyo Kusanagi, circa 1997. That is, if Kyo Kusanagi was a girl.
"I never expected you, of all people, to go through with a sex-change, Kyo. Or to go back to school, for that matter."
The girl just stared at Iori. and then giggled a bit. "You know, you're the first person to say that I'm Kusanagi-sama, but as a girl."
Iori just stared at the newcomer. Was this really that annoying student of Kyo's, Shingo Yabuki, in disguise? Nah, couldn't be. Shingo didn't have that high a voice. Besides, Shingo's outfit was blue. This new girl looked exactly like Kyo from his earlier, schoolier days.8

"Ooooh!" Akari exclaimed, running over to the girl, looking at her from all around. She had never seen Kyo before. Only heard of him from Iori. She was amazed that a girl was Iori's rival.
"Iori-san! Is this the Kyo Kusanagi person you were talking about?" she asked, starting to pull on the girl's arm.
"Do one of those flame things like Iori does! Plaese, please!!"8

The girl was so embarrassed. She hadn't been recognized as Kyo before, and she certainly never expected this from another girl.
Iori, however, was less embarrassed. "Um... that's not Kyo. Kyo's a guy."
The mystery girl confirmed Iori's statement, saying "Sorry, but my name's Kyoko Kirishima, and I'm a cosplayer who, unfortunately, needs a place to stay."8

"Eh? So your name is Kyoko? Kinda like Kyo... Hehehe..." Akari giggled a little bit. "My name is Akari Ichijo and I'm not only a founder of this Inn, but I'm a well-know Diviner! But um... can you answer something for me? What's a .... cos-play-er?" She asks, looking very confused.8

"Well... it's kinda hard to explain..." Kyoko sheepishly responded. She really didn't want to reveal that she was from another world, especially one in which the people she met are fictional. So she responded, "You know how people often dress up in costumes resembling famous characters from, let's say, TV shows or something?"8

Akari had watched TV before and saw strange things like that...up until Juzoh had broken it... But still, she answered with a nod.8

"Well, it's kinda like that. Only substitute TV show for videogame and you get the general idea." Kyoko said, thinking, Oh crap. I think I just gave it away! They're going to think I'm crazy now!8

"Eh?" Akari exclaimed, tiliting her head to the side curiously. "Kyo-san has a video game? Iori-san, did you know that?"8

"Akari, you get too excited for your own good." Iori said in an annoyed tone. Then he looked at Kyoko, and said, "Kyoko, I'm willing to bet that you're from a world in which we- and everyone else in Southtown and related cities -are fictional. Isn't that right?"
Kyoko was shocked. She didn't expect Iori to put the pieces together that quickly. She sighed and said, "Well, you're right. I am from a world where Southtown is fictional. In fact, your exploits are basically recorded in the form of a game franchise. But that's beside the point. I still need a place to stay. As long as I'm here, I'm homeless, and I doubt anyone would want another Kyo clone in Southtown, even if it's a girl from a different world."
Iori, being sensible as well as a freakin' badass, replied, "You're right, Kyoko. No one wants another Kyo clone. But, as long as you're here, I suppose we can't do anything about it. At the very least, you're better than he is."
He then asked Akari, "What do you think, Akari? Should we let her stay?"8

"Hmmm...." Akari thought for a moment while walking around Kyoko, eyeing her a bit. She was still slightly confused about everything she explained, but still, she guessed it'd be fun to have an allternate-worlder stay.
"Sure, Iori-san! It'd get us more customers!" She answered with a wide smile.8
